Educating Ezra Klein

H]ere is a proposal for The New York Times (and all other publications that have invested heavily in news gathering): charge for early access to your stories. I'm sitting here before bed on the West Coast, as I do most nights, reading tomorrow's paper and looking to get an early jump on the news. And I'm quite taken with the lead story about FBI Director Mueller's contradiction of Attorney General Gonazalez's Senate testimony. In fact, I might even pay for the privilege of doing so. Imagine if, instead of posting the full stories for all web users, before 6 a.m. Eastern (and 3 a.m. Pacific) -- though the best specific times are debatable -- only a stub like the one that now appears for non-TimesSelect members who click a link to an Op-Ed column appeared for non-members who browsed to stories that would appear in the next day's papers.

Specialized builders take time, effort in designing broad-based ...

They are Tom Blake Custom Homes LLC, Gideon Murray Properties LLC, Atlanticville Homes LLC, Truepenny Homes Inc. and CK Contracting LLC.

Christopher Lee Klick of CK Contracting is completing design and construction of a 2,630-square-foot, fiber-cement-sided dwelling.

"This is a Lowcountry vernacular style home," he says. "It has the two-story front porches."

The four bedroom and 3 1/2 bath home has a metal roof and a semi-detached garage in back. The ceiling is cypress tongue-and-groove bead board. A liquid propane tank fuels the gas fireplace, range and lantern. Kitchen appliances are stainless steel Jenn Air. The master bathroom has a jetted tub.

There are places where kids can run around, for people to launch kayaks in the lake or take one of the walking trails.

Obama Gives Away Money Tied To Donor

The campaign's timing for its announcement seemed designed to avoid major news coverage. It came as political attention was focused on Tuesday's Republican presidential contest in Florida. Earlier this month, the campaign announced it would give more than $40,000 to charity on the same day as the Republican primary in South Carolina and the Nevada caucuses.

The charitable contribution announced Tuesday came after Obama ordered a more detailed review of contributions related to Rezko, Obama spokesman Bill Burton said. The money covered contributions from Rezko family members and employees and from others who may have given to Obama's 2004 Senate campaign.

``By refunding these donations, the campaign has returned any and all funds that could be reasonably credited to Mr. Rezko's political support,'' Burton said.
