Commissioner confronts Finch's charges of racism
My whole life has been in the medical and social services fields," Finch said in the statement. "I have served on dozens of boards, advisory committees and task forces of nonprofit organizations over the last 30 years, and I look forward to continuing. I am a person who wants to help those less fortunate, the poor, the sick and the under privileged. While I recognize the importance of administration in helping nonprofit organizations achieve their goals, my heart is in service. The events of the past few months have kept me from that for too long." A memo Arms sent Friday to Community Development Director Erik Hoglund notified Finch and the Community Development staff they would no longer be allowed to serve on the boards of nonprofits that seek federal or locally funded grants issued by the county.
